Amazon has released the trailer for its brand new docuseries Always Jane, following the life of a transgender teen and her family.
The coming-of-age series follows the story of Jane Noury, from rural New Jersey, who is preparing to leave home for college.
With the love and support of her family, we see how Jane thinks about the independent life she will have after high school, and how her family supports her.
The filmmakers got almost full access to the family life as up-and-coming model Jane gets ready to leave home and pursue her dreams.
Through working in modelling, Jane met director Jonathan C. Hyde and was inspired to tell her story in this new four-part docuseries.
Is there a trailer for Always Jane?
Amazon dropped the new trailer for Always Jane on October 21, and it gives a first insight into the intimate documentary.
"We're a family and we're always going to be there for each other," Jane says in the clip.
"People don't know what a transgender woman has to go through. It's really hard. I can't even imagine what it would be like without my family."
In the trailer we see footage of Jane modelling, enjoying family meals and hanging out with her friends, as well as preparing for surgery.
We also get a glimpse at how close and supportive her family are.
“"Looking back I can't imagine how out of place that she really felt," her Dad says, while her mum later adds: “You just want your kids to be happy. I wasn't going to fail her."
Who is Jane Noury?
Jane Noury is a transgender teenager and up-and-coming model from New Jersey in the US.
The 20-year-old, who also wishes to pursue a career in acting and filmmaking as well as modelling, also wants to help support other transgender teens.
Her website says she hopes to set up a Transgender Youth Foundation to provide resources for transgender teens who don’t have the right support and guidance.
Jane said of her appearance on the show: “I see Always Jane as a love story.
“Love stories always have hopes, dreams, and heartache, but best of all—a happily ever after.
“My family has always abundantly showered my sisters and I with love and acceptance, and that made all the difference in the world for my transition.
“My genuine hope is that a family who may be struggling with acceptance is inspired to open their hearts and embrace their very own story of love upon viewing Always Jane.”
When is Always Jane on Prime Video?
Always Jane will be released on Amazon’s Prime Video on November 12, 2021. It will be a four-part docuseries.
