Alvin Kamara rests in first New Orleans Saints injury report of Week 7

The New Orleans Saints travel to Soldier Field to take on the Chicago Bears on Sunday, in a Week 7 game that will be televised at 3:25 p.m. CT on FOX.

The initial injury reports published by the Saints and the Bears on Wednesday are the initial reports for the week. A second, updated report will be released on Thursday. The final injury report with game status for certain players will be issued on Friday. Daily changes in practice participation are noted in bold text.

Quarterback Drew Brees, defensive end Trey Hendrickson and wide receiver Tre’Quan Smith were both ruled out last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Running back Alvin Kamara has been dealing with a high ankle injury, and his status will be worth monitoring throughout the week. Brees was originally targeting a possible return against the Bears in Week 7, though he’s admitted that may be ambitious. As such, he could return to practice as early as this week, even if his target date was too ambitious.

Chicago lost two starters to injured reserve earlier this week in right guard Kyle Long (hip) and defensive lineman Akiem Hicks (elbow), so they’ll hardly be at full strength moving forwards. Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky (shoulder) is taking things day-to-day but hopes to suit up against New Orleans.
