Alvin Gentry compliments Lonzo Ball’s strong play in loss to Nets

Lonzo Ball was on pace for arguably the best game of his season on Monday against the Brooklyn Nets when cramps sidelined him early in the second half. Head coach Alvin Gentry stated that Ball was available to come back into the game but opted to leave him out for the lineup that was on the court.

After the game, Gentry was asked about Ball availability following his injury which led to him talking about Ball’s strong performance.

“I thought Zo had really played well. I thought he did a good job of driving the ball to the basket. I thought he shot the ball well because he had his feet set and took good shots.”

In just 20:52 of action on Monday, Ball finished with 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field and 3-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc. He also added three assists and two rebounds but did finish the game with a plus-minus of -16.

The 15 points was the second-most of the season behind his 18-point performance against Houston and tied with his 15 points against Dallas. Fortunately, his injury doesn’t appear to be serious and he’ll be able to build off his strong performance on Friday when the team hosts Toronto.
