Alvaro Morata's reaction to Cristiano Ronaldo 'stealing' his goal for landmark 750th strike

Alvaro Morata has spoken out after Cristiano Ronaldo was accused of “stealing” his goal to secure a 750th career goal.

Juventus superstar Ronaldo wrote himself into the history books once again by reaching the incredible landmark with a tap in against Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

However, the former Real Madrid and Manchester United man was accused of “stealing” the strike from Morata.

The Spaniard managed to get a touch just ahead of the goalkeeper just a few feet from the goal.

It does not seem clear whether the ball would have hit the target, but Ronaldo was on hand at the back post to divert the it into the back of the net.

And Morata didn’t appear to hold much of a grudge towards his pal, praising his efforts over the years.

"You can only watch and learn from him," Morata said of team-mate Ronaldo.

"Other players would need 20 careers in order to achieve the same."

Meanwhile, Ronaldo tweeted his thanks to his millions of fans, revealing his delight at hitting the milestone.

The goal attracted plenty of criticism on social media (GETTY)

“750 goals, 750 happy moments, 750 smiles in the faces of our supporters,” the Portuguese wrote.

“Thank you to all the players and coaches that helped me reach this amazing number, thank you to all my loyal opponents that made me work harder and harder everyday.”

That’s not to say that fans didn’t slam Ronaldo on social media, with plenty insisting he nabbed the goal from Morata.

One fan wrote: "Ronaldo stealing goals from morata, there’s levels to this…"

And another added with a crying emoji: "Did Ronaldo just steal Morata’s goal".

But some backed Ronaldo, lashing out at Messi supporters by writing: “How did Ronaldo steal that goal? Messi fans dey vex Ronaldo is doing what they want make Messi dey do".
