Altrincham Market food hall forced to shut for Father’s Day after 'number of' staff advised to self-isolate

The popular Altrincham Market House has had to shut today after a number of staff were told to self-isolate by the NHS Track and Trace app.

Customers visiting the indoor Market House building on Sunday morning (June 20), which is described as being a ‘permanent gusto hub and canteen’, were greeted with a sign on the door saying the venue was shut.

‘Sorry folks’, the message started by saying before explaining that a number of staff had been contacted via the NHS app to inform them that they need to self-isolate.

The app informs people if they have been in potential contact with someone who has recently tested positive for coronavirus.

The outdoor area of Altrincham Market was able to continue operating as normal.

The indoor Market House features a number of independent food and drink operators, and it is not yet known if it will be able to reopen on Tuesday as originally planned.

Posting on Instagram, market bosses wrote: “Sorry folks but we have just had the long arm of track and trace tap too many staff on the shoulder to allow us to open safely today..on this of all days - Fathers Day.

“All staff have have rapid flow tests before they can start a shift but when you get the call to isolate..you gotta do what you gotta do. Safety first.

“We apologise to all those who wanted to give their dads a treat today.

“Hopefully we’ll be back on Tues once we’ve been able to re-jig rotas and move people around.

“Thank you for understanding and stay safe..freedom is just around the bend.”

Altrincham Market runs every Tuesday and Friday-Sunday.
