Alton Towers to partially reopen and allow visitors this weekend

Alton Towers will partially reopen this weekend but without any rides or collercoasters.

The park is opening its gardens with limited capacity and restricted opening hours to ensure social distancing is observed.

The Resort has introduced a number of additional hygiene and safety measures which guests will see in place when they visit.

Everyone will be subject to a temperature check on arrival and guests are being asked to book online in advance.

There will be social distancing markers at the Admissions plaza and other places around the Resort.

Sales of food and drinks will be limited to ‘grab and go’ items including hot and cold drinks, snacks and ice creams but guests are welcome to bring a picnic.

Sadly, all rides and other attractions will remain closed in line with Government advice.

Emma Catterall, Divisional Director of Alton Towers Resort said: “The Gardens have been open to the public in one form or another since 1839, but are often overlooked by guests as they rush from one ride to another.

"We are delighted to have this opportunity to offer guests the chance to enjoy the Gardens in themselves.

“We are limiting the number of guests each day, and have put a raft of hygiene and safety measures in place to protect our visitors and employees.

"We are excited to be welcoming guests back to the Resort and offering families a beautiful place to enjoy time in the outdoors together.”
