Alton Towers to partially reopen this weekend

It's one of the UK's most popular attractions and Alton Towers is set partially reopen from this weekend.

The much-loved theme park, which is about an hour's drive from Nottingham, is to reopen its beautiful gardens on Saturday (June 6).

But there will be a restriction on the number of people allowed in at any one time.

Stoke-on-Trent Live reported the announcement made by Alton Towers bosses, which said: "We're delighted to confirm that we will be opening our gardens from Saturday, June 6, in line with Government guidance on the reopening of gardens and land maintained for public use.

"To ensure we keep everyone safe, tickets will need to be pre-booked online, where you can also see all the hygiene and safety measures we'll have in place so you have a safe and enjoyable visit."

Among the safety measures in place for visitors will include social distancing markers and temperature checks on arrival, while food and drink sales will be limited to 'grab and go'.

Entry to the gardens is priced online from £12, which includes free parking.

Last week, Alton Towers - which has been closed for 10 weeks - said it was looking at plans for reopening the main theme park as soon as the Government gives the go-ahead on easing lockdown restrictions.
