Alton Towers' Scarefest promises fewer laughs and more screams for 2019

The brains behind Alton Towers' Scarefest are promising fewer laughs and more screams for 2019 - with three new major attractions.

The recently opened Dungeon will provide even more shocks and surprises to brave visitors who dare to journey down the Black River and meet the gruesome plague doctor, the twisted torturer or the terrifying Witch of Burslem.

If that’s not scary enough, a new chilling scare maze invites thrill-seekers to venture into the The Attic: Terror of the Towers where villains lurk seeking to avenge terrible crimes.

There will also be a brand new family maze called Darkest Depths, which will take guests on a ghostly voyage into pirate folklore with visitors coming face-to-face with legendary creatures of the deep.

Returning this year will be Sub-Species – The End Games (a live action scare maze where the creatures wll touch you, as you descend deep underground to a post-apocalyptic sewer system), Altonville Mine Tours: Uncover the Legend of the Skin Snatchers (tour the depths of a recently reopened mine in this live-action maze which holds a dark secret) and Project 42 (the Phalanx team require your help – will you find the vaccination and cure those affected by a very nasty virus?).

Younger children looking for a Halloween experience can join the fabulous Freaky Five - Franklyn, Skelvin, Patch, Phil and Gretyl - in their colourful spooky playland.

Families can also take part in the CBeebies Land Monster Ball.

Open until 9pm daily, Scarefest also includes ‘rides in the dark, where rollercoaster fans can experience the Wicker Man as it bursts into flames through the darkness.

Scarefest takes place on October weekends (5, 6, 12 and 13), then each day from October 18 to November 3.

A day pass during Scarefest is included in the Alton Towers Premium Season Pass, which also entitles visitors to one entry into the Alton Towers Dungeon each time you visit.

Individual maze tickets are £8, a three maze combi ticket is £20 and the family maze is £5 per person.

Buy online in advance and get a day pass plus a three maze combi ticket for £52.
