Alton Towers won't be reopening its hotels after the Government announced local lockdown restrictions across the country.
The theme park, located in Farley Lane, Alton, usually attracts visitors from across the East Midlands and beyond to its rides, hotels and gardens.
The grounds are open to the public to visit its gardens and a select number of outdoor rides, but the rest of the park is not operational due to coronavirus restrictions. Only people who live in the local area are allowed to travel to the site to enjoy the gardens.
Stoke-on-Trent, where the park resides, has been placed under tier 3 restrictions starting from Wednesday, December 2, until further notice.
Alton Towers has now issued a message to all its guests who were scheduled to stay there over the coming weeks, saying they will be issued a voucher to use once the hotels are allowed to reopen.
A spokesperson for the park said: "In line with the latest Government guidance, we’re so sorry that we can’t reopen our hotels at the moment, but all guests with bookings up to and including 16th December will be issued with a voucher to use at a later date.
"We will, however, continue to welcome day guests from our local area on the next few weekends to enjoy festive fun and entertainment in our beautiful grounds."
For those who live nearby, there is outdoor entertainment and an illuminated festive walk - entry is £12 for adults, £5 for children aged three-11 and children under three are free.
