Alphonso Davies looking forward to 'dream come true' Champions League final with Bayern Munich

Alphonso Davies helped Bayern Munich through to the Champions League final on Wednesday and said his team’s run in the competition was a “dream come true”.

The Canadian teenager has been a revelation at left-back this year, with both his attacking delivery and defensive recovery pace again on show in the 3-0 semi-final win over Lyon.

Speaking to BT Sport at full-time, Davies said the German team are fully focused on ending the season with yet more silverware, having gone seven years since their last success in Europe.

“It feels good, everyone’s happy and playing well,” he said. “We know our opponent is a good team; we’ll celebrate a little then focus on the next game.

“It comes down to the will to win the game. All the boys are fighting. For me it’s a dream come true, playing in the Champions League and making to the final.

“It’s going to be a good game, there’ll definitely be goals. This is what you dream of, playing against the best in Europe. We’re able to do that so I’m excited.”

The final itself is already being billed as a likely clash of attacking giants, with Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Angel Di Maria on one side and Davies’ team-mates Robert Lewandowski, Serge Gnabry and Thomas Muller on the other.

But Davies says although the style is to be offensive-minded, it’s because there’s such quality in the other half of the pitch that the mentality can be to attack relentlessly—as well as Bayern’s noted desire being a key factor.

“We try (to attack), we have solid guys in the back [so] we try to get it forward as much as possible and it seems to be working.

“These guys have won everything but everyone’s still excited, even after winning many titles.”
