Alnwick Castle says it needs 100 staff for the 2020 tourist season

Alnwick Castle says it will have more than 100 jobs on offer to work at the attraction during the 2020 season.

The castle encourages aspiring performers, film tour guides and historians to apply for roles, when applications open in January. The castle is packed with history and has been used as a set for major films, including the Harry Potter franchise, which pulls in a variety of tourists to the Northumbrian market town.

Of course, those tourists need to be fed, and looked after, so Alnwick Castle will be looking for efficient admissions and till operators, retail and administration assistants, food, beverage and kitchen assistants, cleaners, summer ticketing assistants and historical tour guides.

In all, more than 100 seasonal jobs will be on offer.

The Castle will re-open for the 2020 season on Friday 27 March 2020, but before then, all new staff will be recruited, trained, and in place to ensure visitors have the best time ever.

As usual there are many exciting activities planned at Alnwick Castle over 2020 including Harry Potter -themed events and another eagerly awaited "Joust of the North".

Head guide Daniel Watkins who is involved in seasonal recruitment every year, said: "We always look to recruit special individuals who share our enthusiasm for Alnwick Castle and can pass that enthusiasm onto our many visitors. Alnwick Castle's staff are one big team; every member of staff is valued and plays an important part in ensuring visitors have the great experience they expect.

"Language skills are always in demand as we have an increasing number of groups visiting who speak Spanish, Chinese, French, Italian, German, Japanese and many more! For every role, no matter what it involves, we will be looking for enthusiasm, flexibility, a willingness to learn, and a friendly nature."

The roles are being advertised on the Alnwick Castle website. Head here to apply.
