Almost a million dollars in cash, drugs found by police in Adelaide hotel room

Coronavirus might have cleared out Adelaide's hotel rooms, but police have found drugs and almost $1 million in cash stashed in one.

Officers searched the room in the CBD hotel last Friday, allegedly uncovering 200 grams of methamphetamine, 20 grams of cocaine, 700 millilitres of the liquid drug fantasy, along with steroids, prescription medication and $995,031 in cash.

Police were led to the hotel after chasing a white Mercedes car in Adelaide's west a week earlier.

The car was abandoned at Grange. A handgun was discovered inside.

A 35-year-old Torrensville man and a 31-year-old Mitchell Park woman have been charged with trafficking the drugs and money laundering.

The man has also been charged with resisting police and possessing a firearm without a licence.

Both the accused have been refused police bail.
