Almost 900 people in Notts now diagnosed with coronavirus as cases surge in 24 hours

Nearly 900 people across Nottinghamshire have now tested positive for Covid-19.

Recent figures released by Public Health on Saturday, April 11, show that 899 have now contracted the coronavirus.

In Nottingham, there are now 287 cases - up 11 cases from yesterday, when there was 276 confirmed cases.

In Nottinghamshire, there are 612 cases - 46 new cases from yesterday's figure, which sat at 566.

This comes as eight more patients died from the virus at Nottingham University Hospitals Trust, which covers both Queen's Medical Centre and City Hospital.

In total, eight more patients have died between April 8 and April 10.

They were aged between 58 and 88 and their families have been informed.

Dr Keith Girling, Medical Director at Nottingham University Hospitals, said: "Sadly we can confirm that a further eight patients have died having tested positive for Covid-19.

"Regrettably that means that 89 Covid-19 positive patients we were caring for have sadly died since the beginning of March."

"The patients were aged 58 and 88, and died between April 8 and April 10."

"The families have been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time."
