Almost 50 jobs lost as award-winning Scottish housebuilding firm goes bust

AN award-winning Scottish housebuilding firm has gone bust with almost 50 workers losing their jobs.

Connect Modular Ltd, based in Cumnock in Ayrshire, built homes for a number of public-sector clients across Scotland.

But all 48 staff members have been made redundant after the company went into administration – apparently due to losses made on historic contracts and rising costs.

FRP Advisory have been called in to handle the firm's collapse.

Administrator Michelle Elliot told STV News: “Connect Modular Limited and Hope South West Limited had built a strong reputation and track record in delivering high quality, affordable modular homes across Scotland.

“Unfortunately, following losses made on a number of historic contracts and rising operational costs, the businesses were facing significant cash flow pressure.

“Despite the best efforts of the director in exploring alternatives in recent weeks, the cash position deteriorated significantly placing unsustainable pressure on the business.

“We will now focus on marketing the assets for sale and on providing every possible support to the staff for claims to the Redundancy Payments Office and accessing support agencies such as PACE.”

They currently have a number of unfinished developments across the country – including projects in Penicuik, Clydebank, Garnock Valley and Livingston.
