Almost 40 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed across the city and county in the past 24 hours, according to the latest Government data.
Some 12 new cases were reported in Nottingham city, bringing the total to 1,587.
Every single region across the wider county also reported new Covid-19 cases, with Rushcliffe being the most affected area in the past 24 hours.
In Nottinghamshire, cases increased by 26, bringing the total to 3,859.
The increase by 38 cases is however markedly down on the previous 24 hours as of 4pm on September 16, when the city and county reported almost 70 new cases.
This is the current breakdown of confirmed infections for each part of Nottinghamshire region, which now has 3,859 cases :
- Ashfield - 689 ( increase of two )
- Bassetlaw - 689 ( increase of two )
- Broxtowe - 570 ( increase of five )
- Gedling - 460 ( increase of four )
- Mansfield - 448 ( increase of three )
- Newark and Sherwood - 502 ( increase of one )
- Rushcliffe - 501 ( increase of nine )
Just today, MP for Nottingham north and shadow health secretary went viral on Twitter after placing his head in his hands live on TV.
He was reacting to a statement from Matt Hancock, arguing the Government's testing and tracing efforts were sufficient, despite numerous officials stating otherwise.
It came as numerous people - including one man from Nottingham - said they were being given appointments as far away as Edinburgh.
In the UK, there were a further 3,395 cases confirmed, bringing the total to 381,614. The increase has led to several north-east councils being handed stricter measures to stem the spread.
