Almost 300 people discharged from Salford Royal Hospital after recovering from coronavirus

Almost 300 people have been discharged from Salford Royal Hospital after testing positive for coronavirus. 

The hospital has successfully treated 298 people who were previously diagnosed with Covid-19. 

As of June 5, a total of 168 people have died at Salford Royal. 

A spokesman for Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust said: "Salford Royal Hospital has successfully treated and discharged 298 patients who tested positive for coronavirus. 

“Well done to our fantastic staff who have helped us to successfully treat and discharge 298 patients from Salford Royal who were diagnosed with Covid-19.

“We wish all our patients all the best for their onward recovery.”

Anthony Lee was among those discharged from the hospital after recovering from Covid-19.

Anthony was able to return home on Tuesday, June 2.

Nurse and mum-of-four Irene was also discharged from the hospital after falling seriously ill with the virus and being placed on critical care.

She was able to return home to her husband and children in May after spending almost three weeks in hospital.

The total number of coronavirus deaths at hospital trusts in Greater Manchester, as of June 5, is:

  • Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust - 490

  • Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 199
  • Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - 169
  • The Christie NHS Foundation Trust - 13
  • Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust - 245
