Almost 250 vehicles seized by Avon and Somerset Police last month

Almost 250 vehicles were seized by police in the Bristol and Somerset areas in November.

The vehicles were seized for either the driver having no car tax or no insurance. Police took some 244 vehicles off the road due to these offences.

Of these 244 seizures, 176 came following collisions on the road.

Avon and Somerset Police took to Twitter to inform people of the result, along with the message ‘some people never learn’.

Avon and Somerset Police Roads Policing Unit, found on Twitter at @ASPRoadSafety, said: “November has seen another 244 vehicles seized for either no licence or insurance. 24 for no excise license. 176 from collisions. Some people just don't learn.”

It comes as police also took to social media to have set out what people in Bristol and Somerset area are allowed to do this weekend, as the tier systems bite.

It will be the first weekend under the new Covid-19 tiered system of regulations, with the area split between tier two and tier three restrictions.

England had been under a second national lockdown until December 2, when the new tiered system came in.
