Almost 1,300 properties left without electricity after power cut in Oldham

Almost 1,300 properties in Oldham have been left without electricity tonight after a power cut.

The problem is affecting houses and businesses in the OL8 postcode, Electricity North West said.

1,294 properties in total have been hit by the power cut.

Engineers are currently responding to the problem.

It has not yet been confirmed when the power is expected to be restored, but people who need electricity for a medical purpose are being urged to contact Electricity North West.

A tweet posted by the service at around 9pm said: "Engineers are responding to a power cut in #Oldham

"#OL8 affecting 1294 properties.

"We are really sorry if you're affected this evening and we'll post updates once we have further information.

"If you rely on electricity for a medical purpose, please dial 105 to speak to us - Lee."
