Almost 1,000 Leeds homes suffer powercut this morning

More than 800 households in Leeds have woken up this morning to find that they have no power - with a separate incident also affecting a further 40 properties.

Northern Powergrid have announced on their website that there are currently 820 houses affected by a powercut in LS17, LS28 and LS9.

The powercut was reported to the grid at 7.08am and they have said that the estimated restoration time is 8.45am.

Northern Powergrid have said that they are working hard to restore the power as quickly as possible.

Their update says: "The power cut affecting your property has been caused by an unexpected problem with the cables or equipment that serve your area."

The issue also extends to the BD4 postcode.

Meanwhile, there have been 40 homes affected by a separate powercut in nearby Headingley.

Also caused by an "unexpected problem" with the cables and equipment, the issue that is affecting LS5 households was reported at 5.50am.

It is expected to be resolved by 2.30pm and Northern Powergrid have said they are working to restore power as quickly as they can.
