Almond Valley Farm in West Lothian reopens with cute baby animals for wee ones to meet

Looking for a day trip to entertain wee ones and not-so-wee-ones alike? With Edinburgh Zoo fully booked out days in advance, one farm in West Lothian is encouraging Edinburgh and Lothians locals to visit them when they reopen next week.

Following the relaxation in government restrictions on museums and visitor attractions in Scotland, Almond Valley Heritage Centre will at last be permitted to re-open from the 15 July.

With plenty of amazing scenery that makes for an enjoyable walk, there's plenty on offer to get stuck into.

All the animals of Mill Farm - including alpacas, goats and sheep - are waiting to welcome you and most of the centre's outdoor play spaces are open to kids.

There's also a history mystery trail to follow on your phone and they've opened a huge open-sided picnic barn in the orchard for bring-your-own lunches.

Advance booking will be essential to limit visitor numbers and many other arrangements will be in place to ensure social distancing - the team will also be thoroughly cleaning everything on a regular basis.

Things will be rather different to they way they were before as some features remain closed, but there's still loads to see and enjoy among the wide open spaces of the West Lothian farm's big green site.
