Almond Valley Farm in West Lothian are looking for their sheep, have you seen her?

Almond Valley Heritage site have appealed to the public after discovering this morning that one of their sheep has gone missing.

Staff at the farm in Livingston first noticed that the animal was missing when doing their feeding rounds on Sunday morning. The sheep belongs to a particularly rare breed, the North Ronaldsay, of which there are only an estimated 500-900 females left. Due to the low numbers, the sheep is an extremely important part of the farm's breeding programme.

Almond Valley have described the sheep as dark brown with black legs and face. She also has one purple and one yellow ear tag. Her disappearance is considered especially concerning by the farm, as "she would normally want to stick close to her flock, so we are concerned as she has gone missing by herself."

"It is very strange that this young female would leave her flock by her own choice."

The farm have urged anyone who may have seen the sheep or have any further information to contact them on Facebook or contact 07969396668, so they can safely return her home for lambing.

The Almond Valley site has been around since the 1960s, with a museum and farm on the site that are both open to the public. However the site is currently closed due to lockdown measures in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
