Almiron and Joelinton up front - the Newcastle XI fans want to see against Morecambe

Miguel Almiron should be partnered in attack with Joelinton for Newcastle United's Carabao Cup tie at Morecambe.

That's the view of Magpies supporters, who would like to see Steve Bruce ring the changes for the third-round clash at the Mazuma Stadium.

The United head coach has confirmed he will shuffle the pack following Sunday's humbling home defeat to Brighton.

A quick-fire brace from Neal Maupay meant the Magpies were two-goals down within the opening ten minutes, and a late Aaron Connolly strike sealed all three points for the Seagulls.

Bruce has confirmed Jamal Lewis and Allan Saint-Maximin will miss Wednesday's trip to Morecambe, while Martin Dubravka, Dwight Gayle and Matty Longstaff all remain on the sidelines.

Despite the disappointing defeat to Brighton, fans would like to see United continue with the 4-4-2 formation that attracted criticism at the weekend.

Mark Gillespie earns a recall in place of Karl Darlow, while Ciaran Clark returns from injury in a back four alongside Emil Krafth, Federico Fernandez and Javier Manquillo.

Ryan Fraser is handed his second start in black-and-white, with former Bournemouth team-mate Matt Ritchie earning his place on the opposite flank.

Academy graduates Dan Barlaser and Sean Longstaff are paired together in the centre of the park.

Up front, Magpies' supporters would like to see Almiron partner Joelinton.
