Haissem Hassan was praised by Ally McCoist for his World Cup performance for Egypt.

The new Celtic winger was pivotal in Egypt's match against Argentina, setting up their second goal with an impressive run.

Hassan's performance caught McCoist's attention during ITV's commentary. The commentator said: "The finish is magnificent [from Zico], but I cannot believe the talent we have seen on the right-hand touchline. Haissem Hassan, my goodness me."

He continued: "He gets it 10-15 yards inside his own half. I cannot wait to see it again. It is as good a counter-attacking goal as you will ever see anywhere."

McCoist, a former Rangers striker, also highlighted Hassan's impact in the early stages of the contest. He said: "Salah does brilliant. He plays it in the right-hand side to this fella who has been unbelievable for 20 minutes.

"Hassan again, tremendous going down the right side, the run to get past your defender."

Argentina eventually mounted a late comeback to progress, denying Egypt a famous World Cup victory.

Hassan’s performance, however, had already caught the eye weeks before the winger completed his move to Celtic.
