Ally McCoist wants Steven Gerrard answers as Rangers icon miffed by lack of 'manners'

Rangers icon Ally McCoist has called upon the Ibrox club, Aston Villa and Steven Gerrard to break their silence over the Ibrox manager's imminent exit.

The 41-year-old is on the verge of joining the English Premier League side who made him their No.1 target after Dean Smith was axed at the weekend.

McCoist admits he will be sad to see Gerrard leave Rangers after seeing the Liverpool icon end Celtic's vice-like grip over Scottish football to deny their rivals 10 In A Row.

But the much-loved pundit believes the time is now for all involved in the potential deal to break their radio blackout over Gerrard's future.

And McCoist issued an on-air plea for supporters to be given a much-needed update during a segment alongside former Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said "I think we've reached a stage, I think the fans of both clubs deserve a wee bit of notice now.

"Villa fans and Rangers fans deserve a quote from Aston Villa, a quote from Rangers, or indeed a quote from Steven.

"I mean, I think it's just manners.

"If it's going to happen, let everybody know."
