Ally McCoist tells Rangers boss Steven Gerrard to prepare for 'unbelievable' outpouring as he makes six week title prediction

Ally McCoist has told Steven Gerrard to brace for an "unbelievable" outpouring of emotion if he guides Rangers over the title finishing line.

The Ibrox side are storming towards a first league crown since 2011 and, in the process, denying Celtic their fabled 10 In A Row dream.

Gerrard's team have blasted 21 points clear of their city foes, albeit have played three games more.

Former Rangers boss and striker McCoist suspects Gerrard may not quite grasp the magnitude of the achievement until it's finally confirmed.

He told talkSPORT: "I'm telling you right now he will be thinking he is in the biggest and best job on the planet because he is probably six weeks away.

"If he didn't realise, he is hopefully six weeks away from realising the effect that he is going to have on so many people.

"And it is going to be unbelievable.

"And I hope that Steven reaches that position and I would imagine that even he might be a little bit surprised about the effect he has on so many people if and when he crosses that line."
