Ally McCoist 'swipes right' on Odsonne Edouard as Rangers icon makes confession about Celtic striker

Rangers legend Ally McCoist is backing Odsonne Edouard to a Premier League smash hit - if he can rediscover his magic after 12 months to forget.

Celtic and Crystal Palace have agreed a fee of around £15m for a player who has struggled for form and confidence since last season.

But Patrick Vieira is convinced he is the man to spearhead his Selhurst Park reboot and knows his compatriot well due to his exploits at international level.

And McCoist is convinced Edouard will prove his doubters wrong but has called for more live on radio as the 23-year-old was namechecked during a game of Transfer Tinder.

Speaking on his talkSPORT breakfast show, he said: "This is very, very simple for me, I am swiping right IF it is the Odsonne Edouard of a year ago.

"I didn't think his performances for Celtic last season, or indeed this season, really got going.

"There is no doubt he's a heck of a player, he really, really is.

"He looked as though he was a player that was wanting to leave Celtic for the majority of last season, just with the body language and the way he performed, he wanted that move.

"In that respect, if gets that opportunity to play in the top flight of English football, it could be a very, very good move.

"As long, as I say, the performances are from a year ago, not recently."

talkSPORT co-host Laura Woods agreed that the France U21 will be a hit in South London.
