ALLY McCoist has sparked anger from Scotland fans over a comment he made during the team's World Cup match against Morocco.
The football commentator made the remark during Friday's game, which saw Scotland lose 0-1 against Morocco following an early goal within the first two minutes of the match.
During one point in the game, Scotland fans could be heard booing Morocco captain Achraf Hakimi.
McCoist then commented live on air: "Not sure what Hakimi has done to upset the locals, but he’s done something."
The word "locals" is in reference to the Tartan Army's takeover of Boston, which has gone viral in the last week and has even prompted the city to announce plans to officially twin with Glasgow.
Ahead of the game on Friday, it emerged that Hakimi is set to go on trial for allegedly raping a woman.
French prosecutors confirmed that Hakimi, 27, must face trial over accusations he raped a woman at his home in Paris when she was 24.
Hakimi, who plays for Paris St Germain, denies the accusations.
The Versailles Court of Appeal confirmed the decision on Friday after it was reported in France that Hakimi had appealed against the investigating judge’s initial decision at the end of February.
Fans have reacted with anger to McCoist's comment.
One social media user said: "Has Ally McCoist really just said he doesn’t know why Hakimi is being booed? Glad to see he’s done his research as a commentator".
Another wrote: "How did Ally McCoist miss this today when he's a commentator for the game. Or is he a complete idiot?"
