Ally McCoist shuts down Jamie O'Hara as Rangers legend's Celtic quip turns tables on Scottish football sniper

Ally McCoist swiftly shot down radio sparring partner Jamie O'Hara after the pundit aimed another swipe at Scottish football.

The pair have developed a friendly on-air rivalry with the Rangers legend defending the SPFL against his colleague's digs.

O'Hara previously claimed Steven Gerrard would be taking on a "bigger job" if he swapped Ibrox for Bournemouth.

And the former Tottenham midfielder went on the wind-up again on Thursday morning after host Alan Brazil asked McCoist if West Ham could look to the Scottish Premiership for a centre-back as Burnley continue to hold firm over James Tarkowski.

It's reported the Hammers have turned down multiple bids for the defender.

But before McCoist could answer, O'Hara jumped in.

He said on talkSPORT : "He can't even think of one! He don't even know one, there's no one near it!"

But McCoist refused to clamp down on the bait, instead turning the tables to cite Virgil van Dijk 's move from Celtic to Southampton.

Instead, he simply said: "To be fair, I think van Dijk did a reasonable job when he came down.

"But, to answer your question, there's nobody of that quality at this moment in time.

"There's one or two reasonable youngsters coming through, but not to go straight into the West Ham team."
