Ally McCoist's killer Alfredo Morelos Rangers one-liner leaves Chris Sutton in stitches

Rangers icon Ally McCoist has joked his former team should sell Alfredo Morelos "immediately" after the Colombian move one behind him in the club's all-time European top scorer list.

The 24-year-old's deadly double against Lincoln Red Imps lifted him to 20 goals and that has him on the verge of leapfrogging the club's ultimate marksmen.

But McCoist couldn't resist a gentle dig before saluting the player who has become a continental specialist under Steven Gerrard but has been linked with a move away from Ibrox this summer.

Speaking on BT Sport's Scottish Football Extra, Chris Sutton said: "Do you think Rangers should sell him, Ally, before he beats your record?"

And McCoist joked: "Immediately.

"In all seriousness, and we have talked about it in the past, some of his performances, some of the quality and level of goals that he has scored in Europe has been absolutely oustanding.

"I have absolutely no doubt (he'll beat the record) if he stays for the foreseeable future."

But on-air rival Sutton continued to jab at his pal and queried whether the club icon was feeling sore with Morelos on the verge of equalling his long-standing record.

He added: "Not at all, I didn't play in that particular tournament an awful lot."

That response had Sutton and host Darrell Currie in tears of laughter as the Rangers icon talked up his extensive Champions League experience.
