Ally McCoist's Celtic referee tease as Rangers legend jokes over Dermot Gallagher's Hoops allegiance

Legendary Rangers striker Ally McCoist has joked that Celtic get help from referees in Scotland as he enjoyed a laugh with former English Premier League official Dermot Gallagher.

The Irish-born whistler was on talkSPORT's breakfast show alongside the Ibrox hero when the conversation turned towards who Gallagher supported - which just happens to be Celtic.

Now a pundit on Sky Sports' referee watch where he looks back over all the controversial decisions and explains why the men in the middle do what they do, Gallagher admitted he was badly missing football.

And he reckons that most supporters don't realise how much referees love football but insists they all do.

As he explained how he got into refereeing, he was asked by host Laura Woods who he supported and Gallagher replied: "Celtic."

That led to laughter in the studio with McCoist quickly jumping in to tease: "They’ve got enough help up here with referees without you mate."

The pair then moved onto discussing Paul Gascoigne with Gallagher describing McCoist's former Rangers team-mate as one of the nicest players in the game to referee.

Gallagher was a referee in England's top flight for 27 years from 1990 to 2007.
