Ally McCoist's Billy Gilmour prediction comes true after Norwich City fans abuse Chelsea star

Ally McCoist reckons Norwich was always a bad move for Billy Gilmour after angry supporters chanted abuse at the on-loan midfielder.

A section of Canaries fans demanded the Scotland international "f*** off back to Chelsea " during Tuesday's 3-0 defeat at Crystal Palace.

Dean Smith's side sit rock bottom of the Premier League and have lost five games in a row while failing to score in any of them.

Gilmour was frozen out by previous manager Daniel Farke but has been ever present since Smith's arrival, initially picking up back-to-back man of the match awards.

But it appears at least some of the Norwich support have soured on the 20-year-old as he was singled out for some harsh abuse at Selhurst Park.

And Rangers legend McCoist pointed out that he'd cast doubt on the move when it was initially arranged.

He told talkSPORT: “I said at the time that I wasn't convinced that that particular club was a good move for him.

“He’s the type of player that likes to play football and pass through teams. I’m not sure Norwich are that sort of team.

“Connor Gallagher’s gone to Crystal Palace who are an attack minded team a Palace side as I've seen in a long, long time.

"They’re incomparable to Norwich, who don’t have that.”
