Ally McCoist revels in Celtic misfortune as jubilant Rangers icon sticks Steven Gerrard fan taunt in the bin

"Here we go, 10 In A Row".

It has been the vocal accompaniment to many a Celtic fixture in recent years - but now Rangers legend Ally McCoist is having the last laugh.

Footage from the past nine seasons of then-jubilant Hoops fans toasting the assumed milestone has been doing the rounds among their rivals' social media circles in recent weeks as they close in on the title.

And another popular ditty among the Parkhead support - alluding to Steven Gerrard's lack of league wins as a player or manager - is also set to be removed from the songsheet.

That prompts nothing but laughter however from Ibrox goal hero McCoist, who appreciated an ironic suggestion on talkSPORT that the two songs were among the best chants in UK football.

Sports Breakfast host Laura Woods began: "We've been asking for your best football chants - this one's for you, Ally.

"Ally will agree with me here, two of the best chants are 'here we go, 10 in a row', and 'have you ever seen Gerrard win the league'.

"Hashtag, won't be singing that any more."

The league leaders require just seven points to finally end a title wait of 10 years and could take one step closer with a win at Livingston on Wednesday evening.

With that in mind, the record Govan goalscorer guffawed at the mention of two songs that used to haunt Rangers fans.

McCoist said: "Haha! Yes, I'm all for those two relatively new ones.

"But much appreciated from where I'm sitting."
