Rangers icon Ally McCoist admits David Murray had his number when it came to renegotiating his Ibrox contracts.
The 58-year-old concedes Kevin De Bruyne's tactic to allow an analytics company to strike a contract with Manchester City might have been more of a hindrance than a help back in his playing days,
McCoist admits himself he only came alive in the penalty area but Rangers' all-time top goalscorer's value wasn't diminished when it came to getting around the negotiating table.
But he admits former Ibrox chairman Murray found a winning formula he would turn to in a bid to get the beloved goal machine not to accept the top offer.
Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: "The last thing I would want to do is get an analytical company involved in my stats, to be quite frank with you.
"I used to go and see the chairman, David Murray, we'd go for dinner, have a bottle of wine, we'd chat, that's what we did and it was great.
"He always used to say he had three deals for me - I never got the top one, I used to get the middle one all the time.
"He'd start somewhere and you would meet in-between, I quite enjoyed it, we'd go and have a couple of bottles of wine and a bit of dinner. No drama"
