Former Rangers striker Ally McCoist insists he's "sceptical" of the pending transfer of shares to a fans’ group.
The club's record goalscorer insists he would be fully behind the move instigated by former chairman Dave King to make Club 1872 the largest shareholder at Ibrox - if it's handled in the right way.
Earlier this week it was revealed that the group plan to buy King's entire shareholding in order to pass the 25 per cent threshold required for control of the boardroom.
Club 1872 have three years to complete the deal, and their plan is for 20,000 legacy members to hold a lifetime vote.
But McCoist fears that could bring actually bring about infighting that causes Rangers more harm than good in a crucial season.
Speaking on BT Sport's Scottish Football Extra, he said: "I am a bit sceptical of the whole thing, to be honest with you.
"I'm all for supporters having a voice, absolutely. Because without them, we all know the game is nothing.
"If it's channelled in the correct manner, to the benefit of the club, I absolutely do not have a problem with it at all.
"But if it develops into splinter groups, squabbles and arguments, then that's when I believe you've got a problem.
"I'm not saying it will, but I'm saying if that happens you've got a problem. So, yeah, time will tell."
