Ally McCoist reveals his Celtic vs Leverkusen sneaking suspicion as Rangers hero delivers Europa League verdicts

Ally McCoist reckons it's imperative both Rangers and Celtic come away from Thursday's Europa League clashes with points on the board.

The Ibrox side are in the Czech Republic to face Sparta Prague while Ange Postecoglou's team host Bayer Leverkusen later in the evening.

Both sides were beaten on opening night and the pressure is on to get their respective campaigns up and running.

Celtic have been labelled underdogs against Leverkusen but McCoist suspects they're not facing a team quite of the same quality as the one that comfortably saw off Rangers in 2020.

He told talkSPORT : "Both teams have got to take something after the disappointment of the opening games.

" Celtic were unlucky - to go to Real Betis and score three goals, you expect to get something.

"And, to be honest, Rangers were beaten by a better side in Lyon, they definitely were.

"West Ham have had a good start as well, I'm looking forward to that against Rapid Vienna. There's some good games.

"I don't think Leverkusen - and I might be wrong - are of the quality they were.

"I saw them a few years back and they were just too good for Rangers. They had Kai Havertz and they were just a proper team.

"I'm not sure they're just of that quality.

"I think both Rangers and Celtic could seriously do with something tonight."
