Ally McCoist receives Rangers 'de-aging' as Ibrox legend loses 18 years

They say the camera adds 10 pounds but Rangers legend Ally McCoist won't be having any complaints as he bathes in the fountain of youth.

The Ibrox hero, currently feeling the ill-effects of a midweek haircut gone wrong, will be front and centre of BT Sport's mammoth nine-hour coverage of the Betfred Cup Final on Sunday.

Rangers face Celtic at the national stadium with the first domestic trophy of the season on the line. The stakes don't get much higher.

A week of wall-to-wall coverage has been praised but Sky Sports had a bit of a mix-up with their captions during Steven Gerrard's pre-match press conference.

The broadcaster had viewers scratching their heads as the Liverpool icon was credited as McCoist but we don't think the 57-year-old will mind being confused with a man 19 years his junior.

And the good news could keep coming for the former Ibrox boss if Rangers can down their rivals in the biggest clash of the season so far.

The pundit admits he's tempted by the odds on offer, saying: "2/1 Rangers? I'll need to have a think about that."

But even a win at the bookies won't feel quite as good as the TV confidence booster.
