Ally McCoist rages at Celtic title party and King's coronation clash as Rangers hero earns new Chris Sutton nickname

Fuming Ally McCoist has branded the decision to not move the Scottish Premiership fixture list for the coronation of King Charles as a "shambles" during a tongue-in-cheek rant.

Record Sport understands the SPFL have no plans to rearrange the fixture list around three days of royal celebrations which begin with the new monarch’s crowning moment on Saturday, May 6. Celtic are on target to wrap up the top flight that weekend - in the first match after the split - if they continue a winning streak.

However, the Rangers hero reckons the Parkhead champagne should be put on ice for the coronation and the Premiership card should following the lead of games south of the border with Premier League fixtures set to be moved while the entire English Championship card has been shifted. Asked about the fixture card remaining as planned with Celtic set to claim title glory on the same day, McCoist said: "It's a total shambles.

"It's a total lack of respect for the King and the crown. It's a disgrace...but in all seriousness if Celtic are going to win the league give them an opportunity, but don't clash the two.

"There is a lot of people in this country, whether the SPFL people ;ike it or not, that would love to watch the King's coronation. It doesn't happen very often."

Sutton: "I don't care to be honest, just let them carry on with the football. It'll be interesting to see if Mr Hypocrisy over there, if he gets a job offer that day, will he be working or watching the coronation? I know where my money is."

McCoist took the bait, responding: "I'll tell you what I'lll be doing, and you are more than welcome to join me. I'll send you one of these (lifts a mug with a Union Jack on it) and we can toast to the King. That is what I will be doing, my son."
