Rangers legend Ally McCoist believes new investment will be coming for the Ibrox club, and says it must be used to strengthen the playing squad.
Monday saw the Premiership season ended early, with Celtic crowned champions for the ninth season in a row.
That means Neil Lennon 's side will be going for a record 10th title next term, an unthinkable prospect for the Ibrox faithful.
And McCoist has warned new investment will be needed to strengthen Steven Gerrard 's squad if Rangers are to have any hope of stopping the 10.
He said on TalkSPORT: "As far as I'm aware Douglas Park the chairman and Stewart Robertson, who is the chief executive at the club, they've both spoken about investment coming to the club.
"I think it's common knowledge that it will certainly be required for Rangers to go to the next step, and by that I mean start winning things again.
"I'm desperate to see Steven stay and do well.
"I just hope, from what we've heard and been told, that there is investment around the corner, that he can get the opportunity to go and strengthen his squad."
