Ally McCoist makes bullish Rangers prediction but club hero picks two Europa League foes to avoid

Rangers icon Ally McCoist is adamant his former team now operate at a level where no potential opponent will scare them in Monday's Europa League last 32 draw.

Steven Gerrard 's side made light work of their section and won a six-game group stage for the first time in club history as they pipped Benfica to top spot in Group D.

Rangers will be seeded for the Nyon showpiece and McCoist believes the experience gained on their march to last season's last 16 will hold them in good stead now.

However, the 58-year-old freely admits there are one or two teams that he would rather not see come out the Europa League hat alongside the team he adores.

Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: "You can't really pick and choose, but I wouldn't really fancy Red Bull Salzburg, Real Sociedad, they are the type of teams you would want to avoid.

"But anything else, there is nothing else really, you'd fancy your chances, or certainly take your chances, whether it's Antwerp, Braga, Rangers had a great result against them in Portugal, Krasnodar.

"I watched Lille, Celtic got a draw and then it was 3-2, so there's nothing that would scare you.

"They've put themselves in a position where - I think they'd be unlucky if they got a Salzburg - but anyone else you would take your chances.

"They have now reached a level where their European performances have been great. Last year they were defeated home and away by Leverkusen, they are a top, top team.

"The draw will hold no fears for Rangers."
