Ally McCoist in smug Celtic gloat but Rangers hero quizzed by Chris Sutton over 'coefficient cup'

Ally McCoist wasted no time in sticking the boot in over Celtic 's Europa League exit.

But his retort didn't go unanswered by Chris Sutton - who quipped that coefficient points won't gain Rangers any medals.

The two icons butted heads on BT Sport's Scottish Football Extra, usually a highlight of the week as far as Scottish football TV is concerned.

And this week's didn't let down as it opened with McCoist coming in hot after Celtic's Europa League exit at the hands of Bayer Leverkusen.

Rangers' win over Sparta Prague later in the evening saw them overtake their bitter Glasgow rivals in the coefficient standings as well as book their place in the playoff round.

And McCoist was quick to ask Sutton why Celtic weren't pulling their weight to drag Scotland up the standings.

He said: "Can I just ask you guys, is it just Rangers and the Scottish national team carrying the coefficient now?

"Sutts, is that what's happening? It seems like they're just running the coefficient."

But Sutton was quick to respond with a question of his own.

Sutton: "Can I ask you a question? Do you get a medal for the coefficient cup?"
