Ally McCoist in Ryan Kent Rangers transfer warning as Ibrox legend reckons Leeds United need 'extreme' offer

Rangers legend Ally McCoist has warned his old club not to sell Ryan Kent unless they receive an "extreme" offer.

The winger is wanted by Leeds United, with an opening bid already turned down by the Ibrox club.

Manager Steven Gerrard has made it clear that he doesn't want to lose Kent, and McCoist feels losing the 23-year-old would represent a huge blow.

He said on BT Sport's Scottish Football Extra: "Unless it's an extreme amount of money I don't think you can sell him.

"He's the one player you've got that's capable of doing something a little bit different and creating something.

"We saw him score a great goal with his left foot (against St Johnstone) similar to the goal he scored at Celtic Park last year.

"He's just something different that Rangers don't have, there's a predictability about them in the middle, I think.

"(Scott) Arfield is probably the only one that will go forward, I know Aribo will score goals as well but if you look at (Steven) Davis, (Glen) Kamara and (Ryan) Jack there's a similarity about them.

"They need something a little bit different and Kent gives them that.

"He certainly wasn't fantastic at the weekend but if you sell him I think you're selling a very, very percentage of the creativity in your team.

"He'll create opportunities, whether it's for the new strikers or Morelos if he stays."
