Ally McCoist in on-air title cry as Rangers legend reveals his season-ending deal breaker

Rangers legend Ally McCoist insists there's no way domestic titles can be decided based on current standings.

The Ibrox hero believes leagues need to be played until a finish, no matter how far a club is ahead if they haven't mathematically won the league.

And he is adamant the issue of relegation is even more unfair as he blasted suggestions that teams could be relegated while they still have a chance of getting out of trouble and staying up.

While the legendary Ibrox striker was discussing Liverpool and the English leagues, it's clear he feels the same about every league - including Scotland.

Down south, Liverpool are currently 25 points clear of Manchester City in second with Pep Guardiola's side having played a game less.

In Scotland, Celtic are 13 points clear with Rangers having played a game less and McCoist insists there's no way titles can be given out at this stage of the campaign.

He told talkSPORT: "Liverpool have been great this season. Will they win the league? Yes. But until they do, they can’t be given the title. I don’t care if it’s one point they need or 10 points they need, they can’t be given the title.

"You can’t give somebody something that hasn’t been achieved. You can’t reward somebody for something that hasn’t been achieved.

"And more importantly, you can’t punish somebody for something that hasn’t happened. How can you possibly send something down for something that hasn’t happened? I’m dead against that.

"If there is any way at all possible to finish the season then I think it should happen.

"I read Harry Kane, he thinks there should be a point where enough is enough and they should make the season null and void. I do see both arguments, but I’m of the opinion that if there is an opportunity to finish the season then that is the avenue that should be exploited or explored.

"That said, I’m really against playing games behind closed doors."
