Ally McCoist in hilarious Rangers confession as legend holds hands up over Alfredo ‘Morales’ gaffe

Ally McCoist has poked fun at himself over his failure to correctly pronounce Alfredo Morelos’ name during TV coverage.

The 355 goal Ibrox top scorer spent the Colombian’s first couple of years at the club calling him ‘Alfredo Morales’.

And McCoist can clearly see the funny side of his error, showing a brilliant bit of self deprecating banter after a blunder by Alan Stubbs was highlighted by host Darrell Currie.

The hilarious moment came as the Colombian international equalled McCoist’s European goals haul of 21 - making the inter generational duo the joint top scorers on the continent in the club’s history.

Speaking on BT Sport, McCoist said: “Rangers have got two excellent goalkeepers I have to tell you.

“McLaughlin has looked the part.”

Currie interjected to remind the former Rangers gaffer of a mistake earlier in the programme when fellow pundit Alan Stubbs suggested both Allan McGregor and Jon McLauglin would play against Lech Poznan.

He said: “Alan had them both in earlier!”

A laughing McCoist replied: “I thought that was a bit choice putting the two of them on for the one game from Alan earlier on.

“We’ve all been there.

“This is coming from a man who couldn’t get Morelos’ name right for four years!

“I’m in a position to attack so I’m attacking!”
