Ally McCoist in Celtic and Conor McGregor dig as Rangers icon makes cheeky transfer claim

Cheeky Ally McCoist insists Conor McGregor could make an appearance at Celtic Park next season - as a replacement for Scott Brown.

The fighting megastar sensationally claimed he has held discussions to become a Celtic shareholder earlier this week.

The 32-year-old Irishman is one of the most famous sports people on the planet due to his time in the UFC and a £100m boxing clash with Floyd Mayweather.

He claimed on Twitter he had held talks with Dermot Desmond about his shares to provide financial backing for the Parkhead side.

Any potential deal seems unlikely after the 70-year-old principal shareholder insisted in March his shares "are not for sale".

However, Rangers icon McCoist told BT Scottish Football Extra that there could be an alternative solution.

The reckons that he could be deployed at the heart of the Hoops midfield to replace outgoing captain Brown in the Premiership next term.

When discussing Celtic's potential transfer business this summer after reports that Kevin Nisbet could be moving to Glasgow's east end from Hibs, McCoist said: "I think Nisbet would be a good signing, but I also wouldn't rule out Conor McGregor.

"Sitting in front of the back four next season for Celtic. I think that should be an option they look at.

"He could certainly be an able replacement for Broony. They could be similar players in fact!"
