Rangers legend Ally McCoist believes both his side and Celtic have been "a breath of fresh air" in Europe this season.
The Hoops have already secured their place in the last 32 of the Europa League , and Steven Gerrard's side can join them this week if they beat Feyenoord and Porto fail to win away at Young Boys.
That would provide a big boost for the Scottish coefficient and McCoist is delighted to see both sides performing on the big stage.
The former Gers striker and manager said on Sky Sports: "I've got to say it's been a breath of fresh air, both clubs in Europe.
"I don't know whether I'm getting older - I'm certainly not getting any wiser - but the one thing I would say in terms of the coefficient for Scotland moving forward, both clubs' performances in Europe have been a breath of fresh air.
"It has genuinely been great to see.
"Who would have thought Rangers vs Porto, Celtic vs Lazio, we'd have three draws and a victory home and away.
"It's great, Scottish football at this moment in time absolutely needs a boost and I think Rangers and Celtic , certainly on the European scene, have been doing their bit.
"The international team is coming off of three victories, they've still got a lot of work to do but have what I would probably say is still a reasonable chance of qualifying for the European Championships.
"So I think Rangers and Celtic deserve enormous credit for their European performances but you just cannot take your foot off the pedal.
"I'm looking at Rangers' fixtures: they go up to Aberdeen, cup final, European tie. Celtic will be the exact same.
"Big games, but looking back on it in my time as a player you just loved it, you didn't think about.
"You just wanted to play in all these big games, and if you're playing in big games you're clearly doing well. Both sides are doing well."
