Ally McCoist gives Scott Brown Celtic exit verdict as Rangers hero reacts to Aberdeen link

Ally McCoist reckons Scott Brown still has a lot to offer Celtic as he is linked with a move to Aberdeen.

The Parkhead skipper has been tipped to join the Pittodrie side as a player-assistant manager and team up with new boss Stephen Glass.

Glass is keen to link up with his former Hibs team-mate and give Brown his first taste of management in the Granite City.

Celtic have offered their captain a one-year extension as he weighs up his next move.

And Rangers hero McCoist isn't sure what to make of Brown's potential exit as he gave his verdict on the news.

The pundit believes the veteran midfielder showed at the weekend against the Ibrox outfit that he can still operate at a high level, but understands Brown might think the timing is right and Celtic enter rebuild mode in the summer.

Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: "It's an interesting one because I thought he played really well at the weekend.

"Clearly, on that form, you could probably say he could have another year at Celtic.

"I remember a couple of years ago there was talk of him going to Australia, nonsense like that, he had for too much to offer.

"I still think he still has a good bit to offer. I haven't spoken to Scott but I think he maybe now fancies playing but at the same time moving into a coaching capacity.

"I know he is friendly with Stephen Glass, they were team-mates (at Hibs).

"I think is a natural progression in his football career, the timing of it, only he could answer if it's right, it certainly wasn't right going to Australia two years ago.

"On current form he could probably play another year for Celtic but there is going to be vast, vast changes in the personnel and maybe Scott feels the timing of the potential move to Aberdeen will be perfect for him."
