Ally McCoist fires Celtic warning to Neil Lennon after battle with supporters

Ally McCoist has urged former rival Neil Lennon to keep his powder dry after the interim Celtic manager took supporters to task.

The Rangers legend believes the Irishman is entitled to his opinion but reckons picking arguments with a fanbase isn't the best course of action.

Lennon is on target to win the Treble but has come in for criticism after the lifeless display against Rangers with the Premiership already secured.

The 47-year-old believes a "new breed" of supporters are failing to see the big picture in not wanting him as Celtic's permanent successor to Brendan Rodgers.

McCoist told BT Sport: "I think the drop in form hasn't coincided with Neil Lennon's return to Celtic.

"The drop in form has been in place long before Neil returned but I expect them to go on and win the Treble.

Rangers delighted and Celtic raging? Glasgow's not blue or green but confused - Chris Sutton

"You've got to be very careful when you take on the fans, very seldom you take on the fans and win a battle.

"If I was Neil then I would just let my results do the talking and they've been fine."
