Ally McCoist fesses up to Rangers tantrum as Ibrox legend buckles over Walter Smith's killer one-liner

Ally McCoist has revealed Walter Smith 's killer response to the Rangers icon's tantrum over being dropped.

The Ibrox legend confessed he "threw the toys right out the pram" after being left out in favour of Marco Negri despite scoring a hat-trick in his previous appearance.

McCoist admits he wasn't shy in expressing his disgust with the manager's decision in the dressing room as he prepared to take a seat on the bench.

But the legendary Rangers boss overheard his unhappy frontman's moaning and was on-hand to hilariously slap him down.

"I'll you what happened," McCoist told talkSPORT. "I scored a hat-trick in mid-week then Walter Smith dropped me for Marco Negri.

"I did what any sensible, adult footballer would do - I threw the toys right out the pram.

"So he's started Marco and I was like, 'Walter's lost it, he's a mad man. I scored a hat-trick and he's leaving me out? He's a mad man!'

"Walter was brilliant. He comes in and he says, 'I'll tell you how much of a mad man I am, you're not playing next week either'."
