Ally McCoist blown away by Celtic and Rangers 'solidarity' as he reveals the TV gantry view that left him emotional

Proud Ally McCoist admits he was left touched as Celtic and Rangers put rivalries aside to come together in a bid to banish racism from the beautiful game.

It was a day of high emotion as the Glasgow giants stood united in support of Glen Kamara in the wake of the vile abuse he allegedly received against Slavia Prague.

Celtic skipper Scott Brown embraced the Finland international before kick-off as the tribalism that comes with Scottish football's showpiece fixture was parked.

And McCoist - amid a wide-ranging debate on racism and the merits of both kneeling and standing - admitted seeing everyone involved in the fixture on the same page has left a lasting impression.

Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: "I was really impressed at the solidarity on display at the Old Firm game by everybody, everybody.

"Players, all the staff, both teams staff members right at the start of the game. All outside the dugout - every one of them.

"Substitutes, physios, doctors, everybody standing.

"It had as much an effect on me as people taking the knee, to be honest with you.

"I can see both arguments from both angles. I don't think there is a right or wrong to it, certainly yesterday at the Old Firm I saw all the players and both sets of staff - that had as much effect on me as guys taking a knee."
