Ally McCoist blasts 'Cartoon Network' SPFL as Rangers hero urges hiring expert to solve voting mystery in on-air tirade

Ally McCoist wants a "forensic computer expert" to be drafted in to decipher the "shambles" behind Friday's SPFL vote.

The Rangers legend unloaded on the "Cartoon Network" governing body on Monday morning in an impassioned on-air rant.

McCoist insists Scottish football has been left humiliated by the debacle, with the fate of the season left in limbo following the incomplete vote.

Dundee's vote that never was has left the motion, which involves concluding the lower leagues immediately while greenlighting the Premiership to follow suit in the coming weeks, hanging in the balance.

Rangers have also called for SPFL chief-executive Neil Doncaster to be suspended pending an independent investigation into alleged wrongdoing, of which the Ibrox club maintain they have evidence.

But McCoist has been left despairing by the mess created over the past few dsays.

"It's a shambles, an absolute shambles," he told talkSPORT. "It's the cartoon network up there. The gift that keeps on giving.

"For some reason, unbeknown to everybody else bar themselves, the SPFL think it's a great idea to release the result of the vote when all the votes aren't in. It's a shambles.

"All of a sudden Dundee, who said they sent their vote,  but the SPFL strangely and bizarrely said they didn't receive the vote - so there's a mystery.

"And then they've said: 'Oh, wait a minute, we did receive it later on.'

"At best, the whole thing absolutely stinks. For a governing body who are supposed to be looking after their members, it's an absolute embarrasment.

"There's a lot of rumours going about that some of the smaller clubs have been bullied into agreeing to this deal because they need the money where, in fact, the duty of the SPFL is to look after their member clubs.

"They should've found a way, and they still could, that these clubs can get their money without voting.

"I don't understand why the vote has to be done right now, why there's such a hurry. It's a shambles, the whole thing stinks.

"There are people in there who definitely have their own agenda and I just hope - I really, really hope - that we get to the bottom of it because it's been an embarrassment once again for Scottish football.

"Do you know what I'd do? I'd get a forensic computer expert in and I would find out who's lying and who's telling the truth.

"When was the email sent? Did it arrive? What time did it arrive? It's shocking what's happening.

"Honestly, there are far, far greater issues without talking about this. But it's been a big issue up here.

"Only in Scottish football could you have this embarrassment and that's exactly what it is."
